Farmhouse Table

May 2015

Red Oak

The long rails will attach to the legs using mortise and tenon. The rails on the end will be dovetailed and visible when the table is complete. All other boards will be tongue and groove for the tabletop.

A gray stain will be used on the red oak. After sanding much of the stain away, the top coat will be applied which is a satin finish oil and urethane blend.

Oak Island, Maple top, custom cabinetry
Custom Island

September 2015

This kitchen island is going to be 36" x 30" when complete. The main function will be for baking supplies. The two side drawers will pull out for pan storage. The two middle drawers will be plently large enough for mixers or mixing bowls. The top drawer will be huge, so it will make for plenty of space to hold all of the other spatulas, wisks, spoons, and anything else that one would need to make something delicious.

The top is 1 1/2" thick maple with cherry inlay. The carcass will be made with a mixture of solid oak and oak plywood.

Carcass: Minwax Cherry stain and clear lacquer.

Top: The top will recieve a generous amount of a mineral oil/beeswax blend.
